“To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:” (Acts 1:3, AV)
In the introduction to the book of Acts, Luke writes that Jesus presented himself alive, after His death and resurrection, for a period of forty days with many proofs. The word for proofs, tekmerion, refers to indubitable or undoubted evidence. During this forty-day period, Paul indicates that Jesus revealed himself to a number of people including a one-time visitation to over five-hundred people (1 Cor 15:5-7), giving such evidence to His resurrection that it is a proven fact.
Men, throughout history have attempted to disprove the historical accuracy of the resurrection. So, how does the resurrection evidence stack up? One man, Dr. Simon Greenleaf, a former Royal Professor of Law at Harvard University, and a man declared by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to be the greatest authority on legal evidences of his day, examined the proofs of the resurrection by the rules of Law and legal evidences. Dr. Greenleaf concluded that any unbiased courtroom would adjudicate the resurrection of Christ to be an absolute historical fact.
There are many religions throughout the world and many religious people following many religious leaders. However, Christianity stands alone in giving the assurance of hope. Only Christianity has a living and resurrected hope in Jesus Christ our Lord. No other religion has a Savior who died to pay the penalty of men’s sin. No other religion has a Savior raised from death, thus proving the sin debt was paid. No other religion has a Savior raised and interceding for His church. No other religion has a Savior raised and granting his people power for abundant life by His present and indwelling Spirit.
