Committed to Renewing the
Heart of the Ekklesia

About Us

Core Passion

Renewing the Heart is committed to reviving the hearts of Christians and churches by focusing on the core issues of the faith through exalting God, proclaiming the truth of God’s Word, and bringing believers to more fully know Christ’s sacrificial love.

Current Plans

Daily Devotional/Blog

Soon I will be starting a daily devotional, going verse by verse through books of the Bible. First on the list is the book of Romans. There will also be a blog dealing with the heart of the healthy church.

Writing/Publication

In conjunction with the passion to see hearts renewed, I am writing several books and blogs. The first book, “Hurdling the Barriers to Church Health and Growth” covers the things most churches are overlooking, the things that deal with the heart of the church.

Helping Churches

My heart breaks for the smaller churches that are discouraged or desiring to move beyond, but nothing they have tried seems to work. I have been there and hope to help these churches to have renewed hope by encouraging the pastor and coaching.

About Steve

Pastor Steve received his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from Drexel University in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Upon graduation, he received a commission in the United States Army and achieved the rank of Captain. His military career included assignments as a Tank Platoon Leader, Tank Company Executive Officer and Battalion Maintenance Officer. He was awarded Army Airborne Jump Wings, the Army Ranger Tab, the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. Following his military service, Steve worked in various engineering and management positions in the pulp and paper industry. Steve’s salvation came as he read a Gideon Bible in a hotel room in Minneapolis Minnesota in 1983. Following his conversion, Steve served in churches as director of outreach, Sunday school teacher, elder, director of single adult ministries and interim pastor prior to receiving the calling to full time pastoral ministry.

Steve completed his Masters, Doctor of Ministry and Th.D. Degrees from Covington Theological Seminary and taught in their seminary extension. In Savannah, he served as church planter/pastor of Ekklesia Savannah. While ministering as pastor of Ekklesia Savannah, Burkhalter Baptist Church ordained Steve in 2005. Steve later served as interim pastor at South Gardens Baptist Church prior to serving Seacoast Community Church as Senior Pastor for 10 years. Steve currently resides on the Outer Banks of North Carolina and is semi-retired, committing his time to helping smaller churches experience renewal of the heart.
