“Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting. The Lord builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the outcasts of Israel. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:1–3, ESV)
Even believers do occasionally sin. God has provided the way of cleansing through the shed blood of Jesus on the cross of Calvary. The Scriptures state that cleansing is available to believers who stumble.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9, ESV)
It is the way of confession. While God is the one who forgives and cleanses, He often uses spiritual people to be agents of His restoration. Paul wrote of this to the Galatians.
“Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.” (Galatians 6:1, ESV)
To restore is to mend to full usefulness in the church. As agents of restoration, spiritual people are to help those who are broken and come to God with sincere and humble hearts in confession realize that they have been fully restored and are fully loved by God.
